HOMETOWN: Lafayette, CA. WHAT I'M READING: The Girl in Green by Derek B. Miller. FAVORITE CHILDREN'S BOOK: Anything by A.A. Milne or Mo Williems. HAPPY PLACES: Reading, Hiking in the Sierra. FAVORITE ARTIST: David Hockney. FAVORITE ILLUSTRATORS: Orit Bergman, Andrea d'Aquino. FAVORITE FLAW: Being driven. I was thinking this morning about how I live my life. Specifically I thought about Clint Eastwood's line "make my day." I love to turn that phrase around to "Can I help make your day." I love to say "Hello" to absolutely everyone I meet. If I can I add something encouraging I do. I am a proud Californian. I have also lived for brief periods ln Washington, DC and Pinner, U.K. I graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Graphics, and then went on to get a MA in Painting with an emphasis in drawing. I studied illustration at California College of Art, and San Jose State University, with additional studies at City Lit in London. I love to experiment with my work. At present I am focusing on Children's books. I was proud when my illustration portfolio won the SCBWI Golden Gate Conference portfolio award.. Some of my past credits include: Cricket Magazine, Current Health, Step By Step Graphics, Health Advocate, Modern Curriculum press, Scholastic Press Ready Readers, Knight Ridder Newspapers, and Weekly Reader. As a watercolorist, I have participated in more than 20 group exhibits and one man shows. I have won many awards for my Watercolor painting. My work is included in public and private collections including Arizona State University. I has worked as a museum exhibit designer and managed an art gallery. I have worked as a graphic Designer and set up the first Graphics lab at Monterey Peninsula College. I taught art taught full time at Monterey Peninsula College, and Part time at De Anza College, San Jose City College, Evergreen College, and for University of California Extension at Santa Cruz. I have had a long time membership in the "Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators" I like working in pen, ink, and collage. I enjoy studying and finding innovative ways of presenting my images.
